Gaby Gonzalez, Executive Director, POP Home and Mike Eckler, President, US Board
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The home continues to flourish under the leadership of Director Gabriela (Gaby) Gonzalez. Gaby was a successful lawyer in Guatemala City before feeling a deeper call to serve vulnerable girls in Guatemala. In 2019, she gave up her practice and became the Executive Director at Prince of Peace Home for Girls.
Having seen the plight of Guatemalan girls in the courtroom, she believes in the mission of James 1:27: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” She serves as a strong advocate for each and every one of the girls, helping them reach their full potential and dream for the future. Gaby runs the daily operations at POP and manages the staff team. Gaby has a supportive husband, David, and is a mother to a beautiful young daughter, Abigail.
POP STAFF TEAM
We are blessed to have an on-site team at Prince of Peace to provide quality care for the girls. Our staff include psychologists, social workers, teachers, tias (house mothers), cooks, maintenance, and administration staff. Having trained, professional staff on-site sets us apart from other homes and orphanages.
GOVERNANCE
Prince of Peace Home for Girls is governed by the Board of Directors for Prince of Peace Ministries, Inc. based in Richmond, Kentucky and a General Assembly Board of Directors located in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Both groups are dedicated to changing the lives of the girls in our care and building long-term sustainability for the home.
